HERMAperfectCut reduces tool wear while increasing reliability of die-cutting / Significant decrease in adhesive bleeding / Produced with innovative multi-layer technology / Based on conventional dispersion adhesives / Available for three film qualities from April
An innovative multi-layer technology has enabled HERMA to develop HERMAperfectCut: an adhesive material offering superior converting properties – while retaining the adhesive characteristics of its 62X adhesive, which already substantially exceed the market standard. The new HERMAperfectCut reduces die-cutter wear during label production, improves convertibility and die-cutting results, and thus enhances machine performance. HERMA has accomplished these product benefits by using the latest curtain coating technology. For the first time in the industry, the proven dispersion adhesive 62X is applied in conjunction with a new, specially developed second layer. For this reason, both tack and peel adhesion remain high with HERMAperfectCut regardless of the enhanced converting properties.
Outstanding convertibility
The adhesive coating applied by the multilayer process "breaks down" faster and thus facilitates the die-cutting operation during label production. The die-cutting pressure, for instance, can be decreased by 15 to 20 percent. This not only reduces wear, but also contributes to raising production machine output. In addition, cohesion – the internal force that holds together the adhesive layer – has been significantly increased. Since less adhesive bleeds as a result, HERMAperfectCut offers outstanding and especially reliable convertibility.
Initial focus on film products
The benefits offered by the new adhesive material are most apparent in conjunction with film products. HERMAperfectCut is therefore being made available initially with three PE and PP films: as a white, glossy standard PE film, and as white, glossy PE and PP films with a special surface treatment for better printability. This new assortment is to be extended.
HERMA is currently the only adhesive material producer that applies a proven dispersion adhesive together with an innovative second layer in a curtain coating procedure for commercial purposes. HERMA commissioned the necessary ultra-modern coating plant in Filderstadt (Germany) in 2008. The HERMAperfectCut product launch was preceded by extensive tests and trial runs.
