Labeller Gets an Upgrade

Press reports Labelling Systems

The HERMA 400 labeller's motorised winding system has been upgraded to include ultra-light carbon fibre winding discs and new loop-forming units / Dispensing speeds of 120,000 labels per hour are easily achieved with maximum precision / Installation depth remains just 58 mm – similar to models without a winding system.

Now equipped with ultra-light carbon fibre winding discs and a newly developed loop-forming unit, the HERMA 400 high-speed labeller has just gotten an upgrade.

Highly responsive, swift in performance, yet still extremely precise: thanks to new, ultra-light carbon fibre winding discs and the cutting-edge loop-forming unit, the HERMA 400 high-speed labeller has just gotten an upgrade – particularly in conjunction with extra-large label rolls up to 600 mm in diameter. At the Interpack trade fair in Düsseldorf, Germany, self-adhesive specialist HERMA will be presenting this model for the very first time (Hall 12, Booth B24). The complete winding system – which includes the motorised unwind and rewind units – is easily able to dispense more than 120,000 labels per hour. This is particularly suited to the high speeds achieved by rotary machines, for example, especially since the installation depth of the HERMA 400, even with the motorised winding system, is just 58 mm – the same as that of models without a winder.

The loop-forming unit is positioned between the unwind unit and the applicator. Together with the intelligently controlled unwind and rewind units, this unit ensures that the label roll is unwound entirely inertia-free. The outcome: maximum label positioning accuracy, even at high production speeds. The unwinding and rewinding of the label strip no longer negatively affects the start-stop operation of the central drive unit at the dispensing edge. The new carbon fibre discs are approximately one-third lighter than conventional aluminium discs. The low weight of these discs makes it possible for the unwind and rewind units to accelerate to the high speeds required in a very short time.

The brushless servomotors, gear unit, power pack and complete intelligent control system are integrated in a special, ultra-flat design. As a result, the new version of the HERMA 400 remains the most compact applicator in its performance category. This makes it easy to integrate into existing systems, such as packaging lines or rotary machines. Here, machine operators often wish to retrofit more intelligent and faster labellers – usually with very limited installation space.
