In autumn of 2015, HERMA took advantage of a historically unique opportunity to undertake a major expansion of its premises in Filderstadt. The company is investing some 100 million euros in this project.
In addition to its plant for labelling machines in Filderstadt, HERMA is building a complete coating facility on a site covering 80,000 square metres. It will go into production in autumn of this year, increasing the company’s production capacity for adhesive material by 50 percent to 1.2 billion square metres per year.
Through this expansion HERMA is also creating more than 100 high-tech jobs – a clear commitment to Germany as a high-quality production location. “In the future, when we continue to grow, we can rely on this site,” says Jürgen Keller, sales director for industrial labels at HERMA. “Most importantly, we’ve combined all three divisions at one location: Adhesives, Labels and Labelling Machines. We’ve concentrated all of our know-how in self-adhesive technology in one centre of expertise: from production of self-adhesive materials and self-adhesive products to labelling machines. No other company in the world has done this. When customers have technical questions about adhesive material or dispensing processes, we can bring our specialists right in to help them.”
