Weleda AG, founded in 1921 and headquartered in Arlesheim, Switzerland, is a leading vendor of holistic natural cosmetics and anthroposophic medicinal products. This anthroposophy-inspired company today employs some 2,000 people worldwide.

For the past 90 years Weleda has been pursuing the goal of helping people get or stay healthy, or restoring them to health. Weleda pursues the same aims with regard to nature: it is set on producing medicines and natural cosmetics of high quality and by sustainable means. This not only includes growing its own plants in its medicinal herb garden and intensive collaboration with producers all over the world; it also involves exercising careful control over all its suppliers – there is no question of any testing on animals in production and development.

It is equally consistent in its refusal to use synthetic colourings and fragrances, petroleum products and synthetic fats. Weleda produces around 2,500 medicinal products and more than 100 natural beauty products. And for worry-free labelling of its products, Weleda has opted for labelling machines and label applicators from HERMA.

Labels for medicine bottles are printed flexographically in single-product print runs – on highly flexible label material which is ideal for wrap-around labelling and also has excellent characteristics for high-speed machine-labelling. Batch numbers and BBDs are easily overprinted using thermal transfer printing.
