Sealing labels with a gripping flap for food packaging

Consumers frequently take out only a portion of the contents from a food product package. This is an ideal job for a sealing label that can be easily opened and safely re-sealed again; again after part of the contents have been removed – without damaging the package itself. The product remains ideally protected until the package is opened again.

The uneven surface and the wax-like character of the packaging material require a specially adapted, pressure-sensitive adhesive with particularly good adhesion, even after it has been resealed many times.

The filling environment also poses a particular challenge, since a lot of dust is generated when the product is put into the packaging – and very fine particles that settle on the surface of the packaging can significantly impair the adhesive’s capabilities.

Sealing labels with a grip flap – particularly easy to handle

The labels are applied mechanically in a packaging plant. An additional grip flap is used – it enables the sealing label to be opened very easily. And, as can be seen in the image, the label is printed with detailed instructions for use.

The sealing labels for food packaging are produced from transparent, glossy PP film. The printing is done in classical printing processes, with food-safe printing inks.

The label film and the adhesive comply with the required food regulations for direct use on dry, moist or fatty foods.

In the case of the sealing labels with flaps, the non-adhesive grip flap is created by partial deactivation of the adhesive.

The adhesive used has a very powerful tack, so high labelling speeds in the packaging line are possible even in dusty conditions.
