The usage scenario: Camenbert packaging made of paper/laminated film should be labelled with product information and securely sealed at the same time
Soft cheeses such as Camenbert in round or oval loaves are often wrapped in paper coated with a layer of paraffin (wax). These waxed papers ensure that the soft cheese continues to ripen in a controlled manner after packaging and retains its quality on the way to the consumer.
Breathable packaging papers that do not require paraffin are also increasingly being used and can be fed directly into the paper recycling cycle.
Food-compliant cheese labels are the ideal solution for applying the legally required product information.
These cheese labels can also securely seal the packaging paper and thus ensure that it reaches the consumer with a secure original seal.
The cheese packaging should be easy for the consumer to open; resealing properties were not required in this application of labels for soft cheese.
The solution: cheese labels as closure labels with a securely adhering adhesive that is nevertheless very easy to remove
The label paper used has a slightly glossy coated surface and is particularly suitable for labels printed in one or more colours. HERMA uses it to produce cheese labels on rolls, using digital printing or conventional printing methods. The shape of the cheese label for soft cheese, usually round or oval like the cheese wheel, and the label size are freely selectable. We customise the roll design exactly to your packaging system.
Individual product labelling, such as best-before dates, can be subsequently printed on the cheese labels - in your company during the production and packaging process using thermal transfer printing.
The adhesive of the cheese labels is characterised by 2 properties in particular:
1. it has a high initial adhesion, which is essential for a secure packaging process.on its way to the consumer, the label seals the packaging paper securely and reliably.
2. the cheese label can still be easily removed from the packaging paper when it is opened by the consumer. The cheese labels can be affixed at a temperature of -25° C and above, and are temperature-resistant from -40° C to + 60° C when affixed.
The label paper complies with recommendation BfR XXXVI. The adhesive can be used for storage at room temperature and below. It may be in direct contact with dry, moist and fatty foods.
Other types of cheese packaging can also be labelled and securely sealed with labels, e.g. when a cheese wheel wrapped in paper is placed in a round cardboard tray. The cheese label acts as a band and secures the cheese in the tray until it is used.
