Freshness seal label - two-in-one: information & originality in the food sector
Labels in special shapes, precisely tailored to the food packaging, are in demand
The usage scenario: A wide variety of food packaging should be labelled with a product label and securely sealed until it is opened by the consumer
Labels on packaging are not only brand ambassadors designed to encourage purchases, but also serve as orientation for the consumer, for example with the legally prescribed declarations regarding ingredients, nutritional values, filling quantity and shelf life.
The particular advantage of labels: different variants of a food product, e.g. type of fruit, type of grain, flavour, can be packed in the same basic packaging, e.g. made of glass or plastic, which saves on storage and enables the basic packaging to be procured in larger quantities.
Whether honey jar, sauce bottle or tubular bag - the label turns standardised packaging into specific product packaging. Unbeatably simple and efficient.
Often several labels are used on the packaging, with different information functions, on the front and back of the packaging. In many cases, the current best-before date is subsequently printed on the colour-printed labels during the production process. Or all product information is printed on a label with a pre-printed brand logo and image on a daily basis during packaging. This is particularly interesting for products with many variations.
In addition, there is a requirement for many food packages to have a secure proof of first opening ((food tamper-evident seal, for consumer protection).
These sealing labels provide reliable protection against unauthorised opening of jars, bottles, cartons, bags and packaging of all kinds.
Proof of freshness can be provided by an additional tamper-evident label that connects the lid to the glass container, for example.
Or - the label with the product messages is designed in such a way that it also serves as a freshness seal label.
An unbroken tamper-evident seal shows that no tampering has been attempted - whereas an opened food packaging usually justifies the exclusion of returns.
The solution: a HERMA Freshness Seal label that is developed specifically for the respective food packaging - in special shapes, with an integrated original closure
Food packaging is as different as the food it contains - and the labelling solutions required for it are just as different.
This freshness seal solution is not only ideal for industrially produced foodstuffs in large quantities, but is also particularly suitable for daily menu portions or high-quality manufactured foodstuffs in small and medium-sized batches.
HERMA works with you to develop the ideal freshness seal label in the required label shape, taking into account the packaging and labelling equipment, and selects the right label material for the packaging surface.
Round glass bottles, for example, require a flexible, particularly pliable labelling material. For tapered containers, the label shape of the freshness seal label must be designed specifically for the packaging shape so that everything "runs smoothly" in the fully automatic filling and labelling process.
The integrated (attached) sealing label can be fully adhesive or, in the case of HERMA, the sealing flap can have a non-adhesive area due to partial deactivation of the adhesive, which can be cut particularly easily by the consumer, for example by turning the lid.
Alternatively, perforated closure labels can facilitate the initial opening by the consumer.
A guarantee of freshness and quality: We produce your freshness seal labels on rolls, printed on modern digital printing machines, in your desired format. Made from label material that can be customised in your packaging process, for example with the best-before date or lot numbers (material adapted to your printing system, e.g. thermal or thermal transfer printing).
It goes without saying that the adhesive materials used fulfil the food regulations (BfR, FDA).
For unmixed recycling, e.g. of plastic packaging, we use label materials of the same material (e.g. PP label for PP packaging) for your freshness seal labels, or can produce original closure labels for you with a special adhesive (wash-off) that can be washed off without leaving any residue in industrial washing processes (ideal for reusable and returnable packaging) and ensure the recovery of particularly pure granulate in the recycling process, e.g. for clamshells and blister packaging made of PET.
We also develop your solution for labelling and securely closing packaging with original closure labels or as hygiene seals for the non-food sector. Find out more on our page: Two-in-one Labels for sealing & labelling in the non-food sector
