Self-adhesive Materials for the chemical industry
Most products used in the chemical industry require certification according to British Standard 5609 Section 2. Labels used for the product labelling of transport containers bearing hazardous goods must meet special requirements and specifications according to the British Standard 5609.
BS5609 – Section 2
To comply with this standard, an affixed, unprinted label must be able to withstand three months of immersion in seawater without separating from the substrate. Containers with these labels can therefore be transported by sea without difficulty. Many HERMA adhesive compounds have easily passed this test and can be used for this purpose.
BS5609 – Section 3
Section 3 defines the test conditions that must be met with regard to legibility and abrasion resistance of the printed image under the influence of sea water.
Multi-talents with special characteristics – for when it countsChemical labels must be able to adhere securely to a wide variety of containers, such as drums and barrels, canisters, containers, IBCs, big bags, bottles and pallets. Surfaces of metal, plastic, glass and wood have many different requirements. Depending on the intended use, resistance to chemicals (acids, alkalis, solvents), seawater, dirt, grease and oil as well as environmental influences such as heat, moisture, cold and UV exposure are required. HERMA adhesive materials also meet the additional requirements related to hot filling with flying colours.
