HERMA PET films as material for particularly resistant labels

Strong, heat-resistant, and hard-wearing

PET materials as problem-solvers

When standard materials reach their limits – Not every labelling application has the same requirements. Whilst paper or PP materials are the ideal choice for many applications, there are areas of use where significantly higher stresses are encountered. High temperatures, moisture, chemicals or mechanical stress can cause conventional labels to reach their limits.

PET films have been developed precisely to meet these challenges. They offer high resistance and ensure that important information remains permanently legible and securely marked – even under demanding conditions.

Robust for demanding applications

PET films offer outstanding material properties. They are particularly scratch- and abrasion-resistant, as well as dimensionally stable, and retain their properties even at high or low temperatures. At the same time, they are resistant to moisture and many chemicals.

This makes PET materials ideal for applications where labels need to function reliably over the long term – for example, on machinery and equipment, electronic components or industrial products.

Durable labelling with a high level of security

In many industries, labels fulfil far more than just an informational role. They are used for identification, traceability or safety purposes and must remain legible for many years.

PET films offer the necessary durability for this purpose. Even under intensive use or in challenging environmental conditions, barcodes, serial numbers and warning labels remain clearly legible.

HERMA PET adhesive materials with UL approval:

Certain PET films used in combination with HERMA Adhesive 63B. These meet the requirements of UL 969 certification and are therefore particularly suitable for durable type plates and technical markings, such as those required in the automotive sector or the electronics industry.

UL (Underwriters Laboratories Inc.) is an independent testing organisation in the USA which verifies that products comply with the applicable consumer protection standards. One of the most important criteria for supplying the automotive industry is UL approval of the adhesive material. The following material combinations comply with the UL 969 standard.
