HERMA Linerless Plus (400)

More than just traditional linerless – the next generation of linerless label materials

Over 100 billion parcels are shipped worldwide every year - and the trend is rising - almost all of them with a shipping label. Those who achieve savings here in the labeling process secure important competitive advantages at a crucial point in the logistics chain. And they can do so enormously with the new HERMA InNo-Liner system, for which a patent application has already been filed. This is because it completely eliminates the need for the siliconized backing material previously required. HERMA also won the German Packaging Award in the sustainability category in 2019 with the HERMA InNo-Liner System.

The innovation: two-layer pressure-sensitive adhesive for maximum performance

HERMA Linerless Plus (400) is based on thermal paper with a silicone coating and pressure-sensitive adhesive. What makes it special is the specially developed two-layer structure of the 62Dps pressure-sensitive adhesive, which is produced on HERMA’s multi-layer coating line.

The two adhesive layers perform different functions and, together, deliver properties that significantly outperform traditional linerless solutions.

Greater design freedom without adhesive-free zones

Many conventional linerless materials require adhesive-free areas to enable further processing. However, these restrict the design of the labels and can compromise adhesion.

Thanks to the innovative adhesive structure of HERMA Linerless Plus (400), so-called ‘bleeding’ of the adhesive is prevented. The material is very easy to die-cut, meaning that adhesive-free zones are no longer necessary.

Your benefits at a glance

  • Greater flexibility in the design and layout of label rolls
  • No need for time-consuming planning or definition of adhesive-free areas
  • Increased process reliability during further processing
  • Lower risk of accidental detachment due to friction or mechanical stress

Reliable adhesion – even under demanding conditions

As the adhesive has been used successfully for many years, its properties are comprehensively documented. Users benefit from a tried-and-tested solution and can reduce the effort involved in carrying out extensive adhesion tests.

The tried-and-tested 62Dps pressure-sensitive adhesive offers the following benefits

  • Very high initial adhesion
  • High final adhesion
  • Reliable performance even at low temperatures
  • Good ageing resistance
  • High heat resistance
  • Good light resistance

Sustainable and cost-effective at the same time

With HERMA Linerless Plus (400), users benefit from the typical advantages of linerless labels – combined with the tried-and-tested properties of the 62Dps pressure-sensitive adhesive. As there is no siliconised backing material, disposal costs are eliminated and waste volumes are reduced. This results in significant potential savings, particularly where large volumes of labels are used, such as in logistics centres.

At the same time, linerless labels support a more efficient use of resources and help companies meet the sustainability targets of the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

Your benefits at a glance

  • No disposal of siliconised backing materials
  • Less waste and more efficient use of resources
  • Greater cost-effectiveness for large label volumes
  • Support for PPWR requirements

Designed for demanding linerless applications

HERMA Linerless Plus (400) has been specially developed for applications where conventional linerless designs using hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesives do not deliver satisfactory results.

The material opens up new possibilities wherever high adhesion, flexible label design and reliable further processing are required.

The benefits of HERMA Linerless Plus (400)

  • Innovative multi-layer technology for improved performance
  • No adhesive-free zones required
  • High adhesion even at low temperatures
  • Suitable for direct food contact
  • Successfully tested for glass recycling applications
  • Greater flexibility and process reliability in further processing

HERMA InNo-Liner

In addition to HERMA Linerless Plus (400), HERMA offers another innovative solution for linerless labels in the form of HERMA InNo-Liner. Whilst HERMA Linerless Plus is based on the traditional linerless principle, HERMA InNo-Liner utilises a unique concept: the pressure-sensitive adhesive is only activated immediately before labelling. This means that the label surface does not need to be siliconised.
Together with our partner cab, HERMA InNo-Liner has already been successfully established in practice and opens up new possibilities for sustainable and efficient labelling processes.
